Wihan Terrace community grounds in the Hang Dong foothills

Built Around the People Who Live Here

Our story is shaped by the residents, families, and staff who have made Wihan Terrace a living, breathing home.

Our Story

Wihan Terrace began with a simple observation: many older adults in and around Chiang Mai lived alone, not because they preferred solitude, but because they lacked a comfortable alternative. Their families, often working in Bangkok or abroad, wanted to know their parents or grandparents were well looked-after — surrounded by good food, friendly faces, and a reason to look forward to each day.

We opened our doors in the Hang Dong foothills with the aim of being that alternative. Not a clinical facility, not a luxury hotel — something in between. A community where everyday life has a pleasant rhythm: morning stretching by the garden, shared meals under the courtyard roof, an afternoon spent reading or crafting, and an evening of conversation before the lanterns come on.

Over the years the community has grown steadily. We've welcomed residents from across Thailand and from overseas — retirees, widows, former professors, former farmers. What they have in common is a desire for connection and a willingness to be part of something smaller and more personal than what city life usually offers.

Today, Wihan Terrace operates three distinct living arrangements — from a week-long trial stay to a full-year premium private residence. Each one reflects the same philosophy: that quality of daily life matters more than grand promises, and that feeling at home takes nothing more than good people, good food, and a little space to breathe.

Staff are present at all hours. Common areas and grounds are well-lit and maintained. Emergency contact procedures are reviewed quarterly with every team member.

Food Quality

All meals are prepared on-site using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Dietary needs and preferences are tracked individually and accommodated without question.

Facility Upkeep

Rooms and common areas follow a thorough cleaning schedule. The grounds, gardens, and terraces are maintained daily to ensure a pleasant living environment year-round.

Privacy & Dignity

Every resident's personal space is respected. Staff enter rooms only when invited or during scheduled housekeeping. We hold personal data securely in accordance with Thai data protection regulations.

Family Communication

Families receive quarterly updates for premium residents and are always welcome to reach out directly. We believe open communication builds trust over time.

Community Standards

We adhere to local residential community regulations set by Chiang Mai provincial authorities and voluntarily undergo periodic reviews of our operations and resident satisfaction processes.

What Guides Us Every Day

Running a senior residential community in Chiang Mai means understanding that comfort is more than a soft bed and a clean room. It is about rhythm — the familiar sound of morning birdsong on the terrace, the scent of a kitchen preparing lunch, the unhurried afternoon when someone asks if you'd like to join them for a walk around the garden.

At Wihan Terrace, we think carefully about how these small moments add up. The activities calendar is designed with variety in mind, but it never feels compulsory. The communal spaces are arranged so that conversation happens naturally — over shared meals, in the library lounge, beside the herb planters. And when someone wants solitude, they can find it easily in the quiet of their own room or a shaded bench under the courtyard trees.

Our staff come from backgrounds in hospitality, social coordination, and culinary arts. What they share is a temperament suited to this kind of work: attentive without being intrusive, warm without being overbearing. Many have been with us since early days and know residents personally — their habits, their preferences, their stories.

We do not claim to be the right fit for everyone. But for those who want a community that feels earned rather than manufactured — one built over years of genuine daily life in the northern Thai hills — Wihan Terrace is here, and the door is open.
